Delivered new through Toyota Sidcup on 14th February 1987, this Mk1 'b' MR2 was purchased by a retired gentleman who kept it fastidiously for twenty-seven years. In that time, the car covered fewer than ten thousand miles, was serviced religiously at the supplying dealer regardless of mileage, and was stored indoors between outings. Every service stamp, every receipt, every MOT certificate sits within a folder that tells the story of a man who genuinely treasured his car.
In 2014, the MR2 passed to a second enthusiast who used it exactly as the original owner had: sparingly, on dry roads and on sunny summer weekends. Since then, the car has been in the custody of two serious collectors in Ireland, where it has continued to be stored correctly and maintained without compromise.
As such, this AW11 presents in a condition few concours entrants could match. The two-tone white over grey paintwork is original throughout, with no evidence of accident repair or respray anywhere on the car. Underneath tells the same story: original underseal, factory finishes, and a complete absence of corrosion.
The service history is extraordinary, not for the work carried out but for what it reveals about how this car was cared for. The car remained with Toyota Sidcup for its entire main dealer service life, spanning over two decades
The AW11 MR2 remains one of Toyota's most celebrated driver's cars for its agility and poise, credited to Lotus's involvement in the suspension setup. Trademark wedge proportions and Toyota's legendary reliability mean this is a modern classic you can genuinely enjoy and turn heads in rather than worry about. Finding one in this condition, with this mileage and this provenance, simply doesn't happen anymore.
