Opposite Stock is delighted to have secured this exceptional facelift AW11 with a single owner and just 9,564 miles on the odometer.
Coming from a small but astute collection, the car covered 9,000 miles in its first five years, before being placed into heated, dry storage in 1992. As a result, the Super Red paintwork, grey cloth interior and underside present in truly remarkable, completely original condition.
The car returned to the road last summer, with a major service (including belts and all fluids) by specialist Scott Automotive completed beforehand. This was followed by a reconditioned fuel tank in August.
Despite the mild surface updates, the facelift AW11 ‘B’ introduced several key mechanical upgrades. Additional chassis bracing, suspension revisions and a new rear anti-roll bar brought a marked improvement in handling, while a new 7-rib block and stronger gearbox made an already reliable car even more robust.
The AW11 MR2 is in the midst of a market renaissance, thanks to recent star turns in the motoring press. In particular the model was singled out in Evo magazine's Eras test, holding its own against other 80s icons such as the Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 911 Carrera, E30 BMW M3, Audi Quattro and Peugeot 205 GTi. It remains one of Toyota's most celebrated driver's cars for its agility and poise, credited to Lotus's involvement in the suspension setup. Trademark wedge proportions and Toyota's legendary reliability mean this is a modern classic you can genuinely enjoy and turn heads in rather than worry about.
