Comprehensive service history

The 986 Boxster is one of Porsche's sweetest cars, but some examples are starting to show their age. This 1999MY car is not one of them. Zenith Blue metallic with a navy roof and grey leather is a particularly handsome early 986 combination, further sharpened by smoked facelift lights and 18-inch Porsche Turbo Twist alloys.

This is the second time this car has been with us, so it's one we know well. It's in wonderful condition throughout – only a light patina to the driver's seat base gives any indication of its age. Having covered 59,800 miles from new, the fully stamped service book follows Porsche's factory maintenance structure, with eighteen entries logged including three major services. Recent work at Scott Automotive includes a replacement OSF anti-roll bar link, and the car sits on Pirelli P Zero tyres all round.

The 2.5-litre flat-six is the most mechanically robust 986 variant. Early cars used a dual-row IMS bearing with a failure rate of less than one per cent – significantly lower than the single-row unit fitted from 2000 onwards. Thicker cylinder walls also mean bore scoring isn't a concern either.

Some may argue the 3.2 S is the one to have, but in a car weighing just 1,250kg, and with that flat-six soundtrack just over your shoulder, 201bhp never feels anything less than adequate. The six-speed gearbox is a pleasure to use, and the mid-engine balance gives the 986 a purity of feedback that larger, faster cars often struggle to match.

Priced at £9,950, we're happy to discuss delivery, and part exchange is considered. Viewings by appointment at our premises in Berwick-upon-Tweed – contact us via phone, email, or WhatsApp.
