This Mk5 Golf R32 was supplied new by Western Volkswagen Edinburgh in October 2007 and has remained with the same owner ever since. Nineteen years later, it has covered 73,419 miles and retains a complete Volkswagen service history, with every recorded visit carried out by the same Edinburgh dealership. It also remains completely standard throughout.
Finished in Diamond Black Pearl over black leather and paired with the six-speed DSG transmission, it sits on a fresh set of Continental SportContact 7 tyres. Recent maintenance within the last 5,000 miles includes spark plugs, ignition coils, an auxiliary belt and tensioner.
A second set of genuine Volkswagen alloy wheels is included, fitted with Goodyear winter tyres. These were purchased for a single winter during Covid, when the previous keeper was unable to travel to Australia as usual. As a result, the car has seen winter roads only once in 19 years, something reflected in the superb condition of its underside.
The Mk5 R32 sat at the top of the Golf range, pairing a 247bhp narrow-angle VR6 with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It was heavier and less focused than the GTI, but also more rounded, with effortless cross-country pace and a soundtrack that gives it a character no four-cylinder Golf could hope to replicate.
