Full Chassis-up restoration
A beautifully resolved example of Colin Chapman’s original Elan, this 1970 S4 SE Fixed Head Coupé combines the delicacy and lightweight construction that made the model famous with the more desirable Special Equipment specification.
Its 1,558cc Lotus Twin Cam produced around 115bhp in factory SE form, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. This car goes a little further with Elan Sprint Cams, and has also been set up by Paul Matty.
For many, the SE is the sweetspot in the Elan range for its taller final drive, servo-assisted brakes, knock-on wheels alongside a number of detail upgrades over the standard S4.
Finished in French Blue, this example has covered 68,000 miles from new and has undergone a full chassis-up restoration. Full details and photography to follow.
